3 cups warm water
2 1/4 tsp yeast
3 cups all purpose flour
Mix ingredients in glass jar, let stand covered with a breathable cloth in a warm place overnight or up to 48 hours. Stir the starter before use.
I don't keep any to feed after use because feeding requires adding sugar and I like this starter recipe because it doesn't call for sugar.
Sour Dough Bread Recipe
2 1/4 cups warm water
3 cups sour dough starter
1 Tbsp + 1 1/2 tsp yeast
8 cups all purpose flour
pinch of salt
Mix water and yeast, add sour dough starter, stir in dry ingredients. Kneed for 7 minutes. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 45-60 minutes, punch down and kneed again for 7 minutes. Shape and place in pans, let rise in a warm place for 45-60 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 F, bake for 40-60 minutes bread should be browned, crust hard and the bread will sound hollow when tapped. Lightly spread butter over the top of the bread while it's still hot to keep the crust soft.
I don't know how I'll find room for this bowl in the tiny house but it's my favorite bread mixing bowl so it's definitely going to come with me. Maybe she can hang from the rafters.
